Cherry Valence

“Cherry Valence”

CD, Estrus Records

North Carolina rock n roll. 70s rock to be specific. The vocals (when high pitched) and some of the riffs point straight to glam rock of the era. The ultra distortion on the guitars point to the punk of that era. The jams point towards garage rock. At times they remind me of rawer Urge Overkill. Yet another selling point is that the recording is one of the coolest I have heard in awhile, and definitely the only one I have seen fit to even mention, and I would imagine the recording style goes back to the 70s as well. Seems they have two drum kits to go along with the dueling guitars. And they’ve got all kinds of channel fading, different drums and guitars recorded in different channels. The first two listens had me thinking this record sucked, but I wasn’t sure. By the third listen I was hooked! I had figured it out. I love it when that happens! Worth the work.
