Ciril

"Hysteria Driven"

CD Know Records, 2003

Lest you think everyone from Long Beach California is smiling, Ciril stands out like a crack house in a gated community. Their main influence is Rudimentary Peni. By the way, if you don't own Rudimentary Peni's 1983 classic "Death Church", you should go and get that right now. Ciril also remind me a bit of Condemned to Death (their 7" from 1984 works for me). Ciril is edgey punk that portrays a nasty outlook. The song "Narrow Box" can brilliantly fit in right next to many 80s hardcore classics. Ciril can get eerie and bizarre, true to their influences. Nice to hear something this ugly and raw.
