Dexateens
"Dexateens"
CD Estrus Records, January 2004
I keep waiting for the singer from Killdozer to make a guest appearance on vocals. It would just sound so right! The Dexateens, from Alabama, make music that bounces between varying degrees of southern rock, punk rock and 70s hard rock. Fans of the Quadrajets, Hellacopters and Skynyrd would all feel right at home at one of their gigs. "Hard Lovin'" has enough hooks and appropriate guitar work to be a part of any KTel classic collection of Southern Rock. "Cherry" would command a circle pit, old school pile-on while singing the chorus even if you didn't know "old pappy" (I think that's what they are singing). They switch it all up with "Air We Breathe" which is part psychedelic or early Flaming Lips. Actually, for those in our local Lehigh Valley area, there are times when the rock n roll is cranked up so much they remind me of our home boys Strychnine and the Rat Traps, especially on "Strangle Hold".
