The Dt's

"Hard Fixed"

CD, Estrus, April 2004

Diana Young-Blanchard (Madame X) has a very distinctive vocal sound. She is one part Carol King (if she sang for a bar room rock n roll band) depth and one part (non-annoying) Janis Joplin (really, I found Janis annoying) delivery. Diana has a voice that just grabs your attention. The band is headed up by Dave Crider (Estrus man and Mono Men man) and combines the rock n roll you'd expect with some real soul-derived Detroit groove. The result is definitely something different for the ears. I love the Ramones styled drawings of the song titles, depicting their themes in the CD artwork.
