Kylesa

"No Ending: 100 degree Heat Index"

CD (also available on 7" vinyl), Prank Records, January 2004

It is hard for me to believe this is their first release since 2001. Kylesa, from the lovely Savannah Georgia, are a powerhouse. They combine crust, metal and hardcore to create a sound that is potentially deafening while remaining inspiring. So even though your ears may be bleeding, you still want to listen! Two new tracks of aggro chaos (both legitimate classic songs) are on both formats (cd and vinyl). The CD adds a reworking of "Delusion on Fire" from some compilation I never owned (it is out of print) and a killer version of Nausea's "Clutches" which reminds me that it has been far too long since the last time I dropped the needle on some Nausea! The CD also includes some nifty live footage for "A 100 degree Heat Index" to view on your computer. The 7" version is either a collectors dream or nightmare. It is available in 8 different shades of vinyl (yellow, green, light green, red, clear, purple, pink, and grey), each in presses of only 200! Pushead also contributed the fantastic artwork. I could see some of you owning all 8 pieces of vinyl and the CD.

"Kylesa"

CD, Prank Records

The core of this band is ex-Damad (a fav of mine). This is metalcore at its finest. The varied vocals, heavy guitar work, and driving drums all combine to make one hell of a brutal and pummeling record. They combine the drive of hardcore, the brutal metal of Neurosis and the aggression of both genres perfectly. Nice. Plus Pushead did the artwork, which is of course swell.
