Murder Squad

"Ravenous Murderous"

CD, Threeman/Candlelight , August 2004

Sweden must be one hell of a place. And I think everyone there has some sort of a link to Entombed. This was originally set up as a side project tribute band by some members of Entombed & Dismember. They'd get together throughout the 90s playing their favorite death metal covers. Of course, it evolved into writing new material and here you have "Ravenous Murderous", their follow up to "Unsane, Insane and Mentally Deranged". Entombed is one of those bands that marks a time period for me. I loved their early material and their songs were definitive of death metal's early genre. Murder Squad is similar to those early days of death metal and Entombed, how I remember them fondly. I therefore love "Ravenous Murderous". The trademark guitar buzz, the vocals from the slashed bloody gut, the lyrics from the... well with song titles like "Born in Sewage, Bred in Bile" and "Masterpiece in Morbidity", you get the picture! Excellent.
