Murderdolls

"Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls"

CD/DVD, Roadrunner Records, October 2003

These guys are so over the top, many will write them off as ridiculous. Being offensive is their purpose. They look like a cross between Marilyn Manson and any of the black metal bands of Norway. Musically they are heavy metal as a background for mass moshing and chaos, yet wise enough to incorporate classic punk drive, and smart enough to mix in a Misfits styled anthem ("Love At First Fright") into the mess. They've got a Slipknot on drums and a Static X on guitar, so you know there is some credibility in what they are doing musically. Death, drugs, sex and all those things that used to put rock n roll on the edge are taken to an offensive level, which is something pretty amazing in this day and age. This edition includes bonus tracks and a dvd including their version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding". Sort of a guilty pleasure.
