No FX

"13 Stitches/Glass War"

7" (yellow vinyl, limited to 7,000 copies), Fat Wreck Chords, 2003

I just checked the Fat site and this record is out of print, so if you see it somewhere, pick it up. NOFX is so smooth. They make creating music feel so effortless that it almost isn't fair. This stuff is second nature to them. I remember seeing them in a little club in Philly many years ago, the club crammed what seemed like a hundred people into a space that should have fit 30. The club was decorated in cheap seaside novelty. It was there that I was converted. I had been a fan, but until then, I didn't grasp just how amazing a band they truly are. Just thought I'd share that with you. This 7", is just two more of their great, speedy, lovable, enjoyable punk rock tunes. Two more tunes that are must haves.

NO FX - Rancid

“BYO Split Series Vol III”

CD, BYO Records

This is pretty self explanatory. Rancid plays 6 NoFx songs, and NoFx plays 6 Rancid songs. You can't go wrong with that. If you have been paying any attention to punk lately, you know both of these bands and you either think this idea is lame or amazingly cool. Both of these bands hold special places in my punk rock heart so I'm diggin' it. Fun.

NO FX

O "45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough To Go On Our Other Records”

CD, Fat Records

Obviously a comp of all their miscellaneous recordings (from 7”s, comps, unreleased, cover tunes etc…). The liner notes are awesome. Very complete and interesting. The music of NOFX sets the standard for being capable of combining punk’s fury, a great sense of humor and melodic rocking sensibility. Most bands can’t come up with 13 good songs, here are more than 3 times that many that weren’t on any of their full lengths? That makes no sense does it? I guess that shows you how significant this band is, cuz altogether this makes for one of the best CDs I’ve heard in years. I’m not going to go into specifics here, just get it. There’s too much to love here.
