I could be oversimplifying things by stating that if you like that other band with a “z” in their name (Weezer), then you’ll like this and if you don’t, you won’t. Moody atmospheric ballads (slow songs) with keyboards and driving, smiley pop with guitars blazing, provide the two frameworks for the songs.
