Red Tape

"Radioactivist"

CD, Roadrunner Records, February 2004

Did not expect this from Roadrunner a predominantly cutting edge metal label. To give you a hint as to why I was surprised, Red Tape are heading out on tour this summer with the dedicated punk band Against All Authority. But Red Tape just came off a tour with Atreyu and From Autumn to Ashes. So which is it (punk or metal)? Red Tape sound like a hardcore punk band with pro rock/metal production on a metal label. Which is very refreshing. I have given this CD a few dozen listens to make sure I didn't like this CD just for the novelty of it being not what I expected. Jeff Jaworski's vocals combine the melodic range of the Bouncing Souls and several DC area bands along with a powerful, distinctive hardcore edge. The band, slaps together some of the most energetic, powerful, melodic hardcore punk I've heard in quite some time (not unlike Bouncing Souls classic material if given this sort of production). Hey, I just like listening to this CD. Makes me feel alright.
