Superjoint Ritual
"A Lethal Dose of American Hatred"
CD, Sanctuary Records, July 2003
Superjoint Ritual, by now you know is Philip Anselmo's (the legendary singer for Pantera) latest band. Superjoint Ritual, taps into the metal punk fury that the likes of later Poison Idea could only accomplish. Superjoint Ritual adds a musical element that deconstructs the punch in the face approach. Rather than go for the throat, they want to make you uncomfortable first. It is an ability to provide bridges and break downs, that create a demonic, uncomfortable feeling, not unlike the chaotic part to a movie where you know something bad is about to happen, but don't know exactly what to expect. While I think 2002's "Use Once And Destroy" was better, I still wouldn't do without this lethal dose. This is not pretty.
