Screamo, emo, metalcore and hardcore all collide these days. 36 Crazyfists (transplants from Alaska to Portland) structure their influences together to make it work. The bridge between melodic riffing and singing to punishing screaming metalcore seems natural. I actually like the more melodic aspects of 36 Crazyfists. It sets them apart from the screaming masses. A maturity that doesn't ruin the brutality or energy, rather it heightens it.
