Too Legit For The Pit
CD, Radical Records
Never expected to hear a cover of NWAs Express Yourself complete with whoa-a-ohhh ala 7 Seconds or Bouncing Souls (as performed by Stretch Armstrong). This is a real cool comp, as it takes a lot of different sounds to the originals. The selections are quality tracks. For example, Skarhead has the knowledge to do PSK What Does It Mean, giving Phillys Schooly D much deserved credit, and providing a great new version. Throwdowns version of Baby Got Back (Sir Mixalot) is insane, a total rockin harsh, metal, groove. Hoods cruise through Mama Said Knock You Out (LL Cool J) and F.O. The Smack Magnet blazes through The Humpty Dance (Digital Underground) like they were the Varukers or GBH. The overall quality makes this worthwhile.
